Born in Cassis - Mauritius, Alain Ramanisum has had great influences in his musical career. Today he is looked upon as a promising Mauritian Sega Artist. Between the ages of 13-19 he attended the Trinity College. As a student there, Alain was involved the organisation of musical events .

Alain Ramanisum is undoubtedly one of Mauritius’ most talented singer/songwriter of Sega - his work include classics such as Li Tourne, Bat Sega and Prisonier Prisonier.

Born with a passion for music at the tender age of thirteen Alain created his own band call the “Group A” which consisted of a few friends and cousin. His brother played the guitar.

At the age of 14 , Alain Ramanisum was approached by Alan Le Fleur and Desire Francois alongside Gerard Louis. With such great influences, this led him to create the group “Cassiya”. The group is now well known for its unique style. This has contributed a lot to his career and setting a new trend of sega music in Mauritius.

During his adolescence, he also worked with Windblows for 1 and half years where he gained good experience as he was experiencing with different styles of music.

Throughout his career, Alain Ramanisum had has various work places and gained all sorts of experiences. He had part-time jobs such as cleaner and caretaker. He eventually got himself a job in his field- he signed a 6 month contract to perform as a singer on a boat called The Isla Mauricien. This was his first exposure to performing in front of a touristic audience.

He then got a job as a pianist for seven years in the Silver Beach Hotel which means he was working and at the same time developing his group Cassiya.

By the age of 20, Alain was arranging music for artists such as Roger Clency, Babale. From there, he began working with the likes of Tian Corentin, Bruno Mooken, Jean Claude Gaspard, Ton Vye and Natty Jah which led him to composing music and writing lyrics.

Alain has a unique style of music composition, he tries to promote different images and facets of Mauritius through his music. His sound is fresh and lyrics often meaningful. In his song Peser Humanite he addresses the effect of drugs and prostitution hereby voicing the fears of an unborn child coming into a world.

Coming from a mixed background, Alain is always trying to experiment with a few indian instruments in his music to reflect his fathers heritage being of Tamil Origin. He therefore has a few upcoming songs with a bit of the bhojpuri flavour.

Apart from having such great musical talent , Alain is also a keen sports person. He practices boxing from time to time and has previously participated in competitions.

Besides this, Alain was also runner up in the Table Tennis championships.

Aged only 30, Alain Ramanisum is among the youngest popular Mauritian Sega artist to have spread his music in Europe and worldwide. With his unique style of music composition he is recognised to have successful solo career.
